Thu, Sept 16, 2021 - COVID Update

Dear Parents/Guardians,

As announced by Dr. Morrison yesterday, there are additional enhanced masking measures in our schools. Starting today: September 16th.

Students in grades 4 to 6 will be required to wear masks indoors at all times and on the bus when physical distancing is not possible, similar to students in Grades 7 to 12. Exemptions include:

When staff and students are able to physically distance within a classroom (6ft/2m);

Eating or drinking;

Participating in a physical activity (e.g. gym, outdoor recess);

Engaging in an activity which prevents them from doing so (e.g. playing a wind instrument);

When it poses a safety concern (e.g. welding); or

When a school assesses wearing a non-medical mask is not in the best interest of a student due to physical, medical or other factors.

After-school and extracurricular activities will resume.

As always, any individuals who are experiencing symptoms, even mild symptoms, should get tested immediately. Fast, accessible testing is available in locations across PEI. You can find a list of locations and times at https://www.princeedwardisland.ca/.../covid-19-testing-in....

I understand this has been a challenging start to the year for some. We will work with our students to support them in meeting these requirements. I appreciate your patience and cooperation.
